Day 9 – Noordwijk to Buitenhuizen and Haarlem

I’m really starting to feel tired now and am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again!

Today we decided to have another rest day, so we set off early from the campsite in Noordwijk to a holiday park in Buitenhuizen where they have trekkershuts. We made a reservation and then set off cycling around the area. First we had a drink at a cafe near a lake and beach:

It was really hot today, which was one of the reasons we thought it would be a good idea to have a rest. It was really nice sitting here in the sun ๐Ÿ™‚

After that we cycled into Haarlem. We’d both never been to this city before, but we both really like it!

There are lots of very pretty buildings like this in Haarlem

We planned to have lunch at By Lima, a cafe that has a lot of vegan options, but it was so busy that we didn’t think we’d be done on time, seeing as we had plans for the afternoon! So unfortunately we didn’t go there, we had a picnic on a bench instead ๐Ÿ™‚

After the cinema we cycled back to the campsite and found our little hut. This brought today’s total to 52km.

Hopefully tonight we will sleep well so that we are ready for the last three days of the tour!

Lazy dinner: pot noodle and the same salads as yesterday

      1. How come you didn’t gag in the beer picture? I imagine that you are OK with it now, but alcohol smells pretty strong, even I don’t like the smell of beer, although it’s never been in my mouth. Wine smells less bad because it’s more fruity. And who puts beer in a wine glass? Oh well, the pictures are funny. I got glasses at the age of whichever one of you was 7 at the time.

I wonder what cycle routes you’re going to document after your roundtrip Dutch version of LEJOG is over and you’re back (temporarily) in your home at Groningen.
